I am not really THAT fat...

In what was really an awful week, travel and work wise, the one highlight of my last trip was having a chance of visiting my niece E in that swamp that is the Nation's Capital.
The funny thing is that all the disbelief I have regarding how grown up she is, she has the same for her brother. Nat's won (against the Rockies so I have mixed emotions there) and it was not too humid - a great Sunday all around!

Rant
It really bothers me that Kelly Clarkson is popular, especially with the young folks, in that she constantly portrays herself a s a victim. Nothing better than modeling a passive aggressive response to life’s conflicts... Grow up Kelly!
Victim Rock
I am sure there are a whole boatload of people that think this song is romantic; whereas I am certain that this song is the most pathetically sleazy request for a one night stand since Duran Duran’s Save a prayer… Hey Desperado! Go back to riding your fences!

Signs that I still need to grow up

Midweek Melody
Thanks to Brenda J and G, and I somewhat up to date as to what is the popular new alternative music. When I first heard Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups, I thought this might be the Hot Child in the City of the aughties. After seeing this video, I have been able to confirm that the singer is in fact a dude, but then the androgyny of the scraggily punk teenagers featured as the front story bothered me; more by the fact that they all appear to need to take a shower than anything else – but I hope I am sharing back something you may not have seen for yourself as of yet? (Having a woman playing Bass Guitar is hawt, but not nearly as cool as a female drummer…)http://www.silversunpickups.com/

Mother of the Year
I have been having particularly tough weeks both personally and professionally and I was more bent on self-destruction than my usual self-destructive tendencies; i.e. I was chain smoking and slamming beers. But then a woman came in that jerked me out of my grimaced torpor. She appeared to be a single mother, carrying a car seat and a leash, to which her son was attached. She eventually found a table near mine and preceded to place her son in a high backed high barstool, to which if the toddler with what I perceived to have some developmental issues fell off, would have resulted in some very serious injury. In the midst of my violations of the temple of the body, I was appalled that anyone would subject their offspring to such an awful, malodorous nicotine oasis.
I looked around the room to see if I was the only one bothered by such a spectacle of bad parenting choices. An older couple at the next table over looked very uncomfortable, but refused to look at me to acknowledge my outrage. Turning back to gawk some more at this train wreck, I was surprised to learn that this could get any worse; the young mother (abuser) started drinking and sharing her Red Bull with her assumed son. So thank you young-random-encounter lady for reinforcing my perception that humanity is basically brutish and selfish. Thank you to whatever higher powers or random luck that you were not on my flight with your juiced up toddler – and may they also intervene to help you make better choices for the both of you.

Song Sunday
Any hoo – As I have managed to unintentionally piss-off some people who appear to believe the world revolves around them, I intend to utilize this space more than I have in the past. My latest idea is to propose a new musical featuring the music of the Split Enz and Crowded House – I mean for goodness sake if Mamma Mia is a musical, why not a show of these somewhat famous (or famous) Aussies?
The show opens with our protagonist, Bob writhing around in a somewhat existential angst:
History
Bob further wallows in his crapulence
Dirty Creature
But then Bob meets Marcia, and all of a sudden feels like there is hope in the world (Hooray!)
Something So Strong
Bob then alienates himself from the affections of Marcia through a series of misunderstandings and goofs. Marcia falls in the arm of a pretentious know-it-all, so Bob falls into a maudlin bout of self mastication (this song is so weepy and maudlin – but it is good to indulge yourself once in awhile)
I Hope I Never
Keeping good on his promise to leave and never come back, Bob goes to the Sea. His spirits are lifted, but he later comes to the realization you can not run away from your self.

The mean 'ole Tooth Fairy
I am not sure why I don't post actual posts here - I kind of like this place better than my 360 page because I never wrapped up any expectation in this blog. I don't really promote or actively point folks here. Sorry if this is like looting through my mind's trash can. Sunday, February 11, 2007
Coincident or subconscious swiping
My Wif is a fan of MacDonald’s Happy Meals, even though we are kid-less and plan to stay that way. Short story long, the prize in a recent forage by her into the mundane and bland was this character from the cartoon show Catscratch:

Gordon Quid
This looks a lot like my Blue Monster… When she saw my picture for the first time she even asked if it was a cat – I and I said I didn’t know… I think it is my rendition of Demon Man.
Any hoo – there is no real point other than to point out another weird coincident.

Aw Crap!

It really is me that is the problem and I by no means meant to discourage her from continuing on being exactly who she is and writing what she wants to write. I was really attempting to apologize and explain why I had not been commenting on her entries – but this may have been an absolute failure of execution on my part; I would try to apologize for this failure to apologize, but I am afraid the damage is too far gone that it would come off as being disingenuous.
I may be reading this wrong and overreacting to something that has nothing to do with me at all – but I have a feeling my ham-handed comments/typing have done away with any limited readership I may have had…

Tiki
Painter Essential 2, airbrush, acrylic and lots of smearing...not sure if it is good, but seems to be doubly "primative"..
Horseonfire
All Corel Painter Essentials 2 - I really have become enamored with smearing paint pictures. Another Chinese "Fire Horse" and/or Dragon (I guess I have been jelous of the kids born in the year of the Dragon - but then again, most of these kids were Jerks, at least to me). I wish I stuck with "art" as a kid - either visual and/or writen... Boo Hoo... Hey Kids! Now that I am Bureaucratic drone, please learn from my mistakes.
